Vacuum Self-priming Pump

The horizontal and vertical forces and moments generated by the vacuum self-priming pump unit under various conditions (including operation at shut-off head and reverse rotation) are considered. The vacuum self-priming pump operates on a negative-pressure startup principle; prior to startup, a vacuum pump evacuates air from the pump and suction pipe and fills the system with water, after which the intake pump is started with the discharge valve closed. To ensure reliable suction performance, two vacuum pumps are installed (with air extraction capacities ranging from 2 to 10 m³/min-selected by technicians based on actual pipeline dimensions-and a vacuum level of 0–200 hPa).
The intake pump unit and its piping system can be controlled either centrally from the operator station on the intake pump barge or via local controls. Automatic interlocking between pumps is implemented (i.e., if one pump fails, the standby pump automatically engages). Automatic programmed control manages the startup of both vacuum pumps and intake pumps; during normal shutdown, the pump automatically stops once the electric butterfly valve at the pump outlet has fully closed. (1) The pumps are arranged horizontally, with the pump and electric motor mounted on a common base.
